Frequently Asked Questions

  • Client's Posting projects FAQ
  • programmer's Buying Leads FAQ
  • Clients Posting projects FAQ

    1. Can I post a project if I am just looking for pricing and am not ready to start?

    2. No. Because programmers are paying for this information, they are expecting a project that is ready to begin so they can recoup their investment in purchasing your lead. If you are only looking for pricing and not sure if you are going to start your prject, you must clearly and explicitly state that at the top of your description, but chances are you will not get many responses.

    3. What information should I put in my project description?

    4. For the best results we recommend you enter the following information:
      • What type of industry your project is for.
      • Similar exiting projects, such as links to websites or images.
      • A list of the features you would like.
      • How your project will be used.
      • Any existing materials you have that relate to the project.
      • Everything you expect to be deliverd by the programmer.
      • If this is a one-time project or if it may lead to more work in the future.

The following items are NOT allowed in your project description or details:
      • Links to your existing website(s).
      • Personal contact information such as your name, comapny name, phone or email.
      • Projects that you are not ready to start.

    5. Im not sure what to put in my job description. Can you help me?

    6. Sure just click on the live help icon, or post your project as best you can and then when a PHPQuote representative contacts you, ask them for help and they will assist you in updating your prject.

    7. Why hasn't the project that I just added showed up on the project list?

    8. Projects that are newly entered need to be verified by our PHP Quote team. Expect to be contact by us soon. You must provide a valid email and phone number to post a project. If you need to update your email or phone number click on the live help button during normal business hours Monday-Friday 10-5 EST

    9. How do I remove a job I posted?

    10. If the job is closed, go to your Client home page, and in your job listing you will see a 'close project' button next to each job you have listed. Hit the 'close project' button for the job you wish to close. Then you will be asked a few questions about the project, including who you chose for the job or why you closed the job. A few weeks after you will receive a feedback request so you can rate the programmer you hired.

    11. How does PHP Quote differ from other project sites?

    12. Unlike other websites that charge clients for adding projects, it is absolutely free to post a project on PHPQuote. Freelancers or companies interested in your project will compete to earn your business. Instead of programmers posting bids and trying to undercut each other, you will receive only quality quotes and be able to comminicate directly with the programmer. Because the programmer are paying for your lead, you are ensured on getting only the highest quality service programmers who are serious about their work. Once you have been contacted by a number of programmers, you can make a logical decision on who you would like to go with.

    13. Is my phone number viewable to the programmers bidding on my quote? I just received a phone call and prefer that only e-mail be used.
    14. We tell the designers the contact method you prefer but we do give them all information. We do this for a number of reasons but we would suggest that you tell them only email bids will be accepted.

    Programmers Buying Leads FAQ

    1. I just purchased credits with PayPal and the website is still showing that I have 0 credits available.
    2. Sometimes PayPal takes a few hours to update in our system. We are currently working with them to make this an instantly automated process.

    3. If I purchase credits on your website, use them towards a project and I do not get selected, do I still get to keep my credits or they are gone?
    4. The credits are for purchasing the lead information and the client's contact information. We do not guarantee that you will be selected for the project; it is up to you to sell the project.

If we guaranteed you would get the project and refunded everyone who bid on the project, the credits would cost $40 each instead of $5

    5. Once I see a project I want to bid on, how do I get the contact information? There does not seem to be a button or link to bid or contact anyone.
    6. First you must register. After this you will be able to purchase credits. You can then use these credits to purchase the contact information of client. You can then contact the client and bid on the project.

    7. How do I report an inaccurate or fraudulent posting?
    8. Log in to your PHPQuote user account; go to the Support tab. Fill out the support form. Make sure to be very specific about which job posting you are reporting. We will research your claim, and if we confirm it was a bad lead, we will fully return the credits you spent on that lead.

    9. I purchased 4 credits. I have used only two of those credits. Your website is saying I have 0 credits available.
    10. You may have bought one project that cost 3 credits and one that cost 1 credit. Please remember that the price of the project determines the amount of credits that it costs.

    11. Can you give me the criteria you use to establish credibility of a business seeking help? I don't want to apply to bogus companies or the amateur query.
    12. Anyone can post a project on our website, whether it is an "amateur" or an enterprise level company. We do verify every project for validity before it is posted. First we verify the clients email and then we verify each project by phone. If you purchase a lead and the job turns out to bogus please notify us immediately and we will refund your credits and block the programmer from posting more projects.

    13. When I purchase a job that I like, I get the information about the company. What information do I send the company to let them know that I am interested?
    14. Once you purchase the contact information, you would then either call or email the company. Give them your best sales pitch. Remember that purchasing the lead does not guarantee the work. Each project allows up to 8 bids, so you could be competing with 7 other people in your field for the job.

    15. Is there ANY way to bid on an RFP even if it is closed?
    16. There is no way to purchase a closed RFP. We limit the number of bids on most projects to 8. We do this so that a lot people don't go after the same project. A person would have a better chance of landing the project by limiting the competition and also many people don't care to take bids from 20 or 30 freelancers.

    17. When responding to a RFP, what is expected from me? I have purchased a couple leads, but I don't know if I'm going about it right. When you speak of a quote, what do you mean? What kind of contact does a client want? Do they want an immediate price? Help me understand this.
    18. Every potential client for you will be different, but some advice I can give you is that you are selling yourself. When you contact someone you need to understand that up to seven other people are also going to contact them about their project. You may not need to have a draft right away, but a portfolio of your work and a ballpark price of what you can do the project for might be helpful to landing the deal. If you are great at programming but not good at selling your product, I would recommend "Selling for Dummies." It is a very good book to learn the basics of selling yourself.

    19. How do I get payment once I have completed the project?
    20. This is something you need to take up with the person that you did the project for. We would suggest sending them an invoice.

    21. Are you telling me I have to pay $5 per credit to bid on a project? What happens if I don't win the bid? You keep my $5 or more I invested just to bid?
    22. That is precisely how the website works. You pay us for the service of collecting you leads and dropping them on your doorstep. You won't find many people that will do that for nothing. We have clients who have told us this has changed the way they do business. Now they save time and resources from trying to hunt down leads. If you are confident in your product and your ability to close the deal then this should be a great opportunity for you.

    23. As a programmer, how does PHP Quote differ from some of the other similar lead generating websites on the internet?
    24. Unlike other websites, we do not charge a commission or a percentage for the work that you do. All we do is offer the lead and give you an opportunity to obtain the project. Once you win the project, it is all yours to do as you wish- no middle man to deal with.

    25. How do I adjust my email alert criteria?
    26. Log into your account, click on My Alerts tab near the top, configure your criteria for your default searches and email alerts.

    27. How do I delete my account?
    28. Log into your account; go to the Profile tab. Click the 'Delete My Account' button under your profile information. Any unused credits are non-refundable if an account is deleted.
    29. How much does it cost to purchase a lead?
    30. The cost of a lead depends on the project's budget. Credits cost $4 each. You can get free credits with bulk purchasees. You may refer to the table below:
